I'm Nicola King, a Wiltshire based artist whose studio is largely outdoors. Long walks studying the seasonal wildlife and wildflowers are where the work begins. I bring all the details of the day, the colour and light, back to my home studio to delight in connecting with my subjects a little more deeply. The walking informs the painting, and the painting informs the next walk: where to look, who to listen out for and what to linger on a little while longer.
Alongside painting, I've been a tattooist of 15 years and the same subjects, the same love of detail and the natural world, run through both. It brings me much joy when my work finds a home with those who have the same shared love of nature.

Supporting Local Wildlife
Giving Back to British Wildlife
10% of all artwork sales is donated directly to local wildlife charities and rescue centres, helping support the animals and birds that inspire so much of my work.
After working for a local wildlife rescue centre in 2023 (RSPCA Oak and Furrows) I gained direct, hands-on experience with British wildlife and that gave me a deeper understanding of their individual needs, behaviours and characters. I also saw first-hand the high levels of care, skill and dedication involved in rescuing, and rehabilitating injured, orphaned and vulnerable animals.
Each year, I gift prints and original art works to six local wildlife centres for raffles, fundraising events and charity sales. Supporting these centres is one way I can give something back to the wildlife that inspires my art and continues to bring me a great deal of joy and meaning to my work.
