This expressive bluebell painting is created using delicate, layered oil brushstrokes to capture the soft, diffused light of a hazy, dreamlike woodland scene.
I love painting the bluebells at West Woods each spring. Early, misty mornings are one of my most favourite times to visit, when the light settles into a quiet, diaphanous glow and the forest feels slightly otherworldly. In this painting, I wanted to hold the contrast between the luminous lime green of the young beech leaves and the powdery violet-blue of the bluebells, allowing the colours to soften into a gentle, atmospheric haze.
