  • Magpie Blossom

    Often associated with superstition and the phrase “one for sorrow”, the magpie is often viewed as a nuisance bird: bold, noisy, and not always welcome. In this painting, that reputation is set deliberately against something softer: bright cherry blossom, fresh greens, and the feeling of spring and renewal.

    This piece painted in August 2025 forms part of Nicola’s ongoing exploration of British wildlife, flora, and fauna.
