🦋 30 Bugs & Butterflies Collection 🐞
Created during a self-set painting challenge in August 2025, 30 Bugs & Butterflies is a colourful collection of small daily studies celebrating some of the UK's familiar insects and butterflies.
Each study is small and quick, with the challenge to paint each subject within 30 minutes. Working this way helps me focus on the main shapes, markings and details without overworking them.

Much of my work starts outdoors. I notice the insects and butterflies on my walks, bring those observations back into the studio and study them more closely through painting. Then, when I'm back outside, I recognise more of what I'm seeing, giving me a deeper appreciation of the smaller side of wildlife. The more I paint them, the more my fascination - and friendship with them - grows.

This bright and lively collection of artworks is for nature lovers, wildlife watchers and anyone who appreciates the more creepy-crawly side of nature.

Open with care and handle your artwork with clean, dry hands and avoid touching the painted surface. Ideally use cotton gloves for added safety.
Keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and moisture, strong heat sources and sudden temperature changes.
If framing, use good quality materials and UV-protective glazing where possible.
Dust the frame gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use water, cleaners, or solvents on the artwork.

With simple care, your painting will retain its colour, surface and character for years to come.

Independent wildlife rescue centres do an extraordinary amount of work, often with limited funding and constant operational demands. Their work is not only caring for injured, orphaned or vulnerable animals; it is also about the running of the centre itself, supporting and training staff and volunteers, managing supplies and keeping everything operational with each seasonal demand.

Having spent time working with a local wildlife rescue I know from direct experience how much care and commitment this takes. Supporting these centres is one small way my artwork can give something back to the wildlife, habitats and people who continue to inspire it.
